Guinea Pigs

Guinea Pigs

It's not what you think. We have not ventured way off course in the proteins department to bring you a series of mystery meats like Guinea Pig breasts and Hamster Confit (could be tasty but is there really enough thigh meat? Doubtful.)

It's far better than making dinner from domesticated pets.

This is about BEING a Guinea Pig. Being a beta tester, in the best possible way.

I'm talking cookies, people. The wonderful folks at Lark Fine Foods (woman owned business heck YES) reached out to us a few months ago as the pandemic was swelling. We loved their business and loved their product and they knew we were experiencing huge growth. They asked how they could help. Did we need space? Drivers? Trucks? It was a call, from one business owner to another just offering help for free.

While we didn't take them up on any of the logistics help, we were blown away by their kindness. The love that small businesses have and show to each other is pretty darn remarkable.

Brooke Carrol, owner of Lark, asked if we might want to collaborate on a new recipe they have been trying. She asked if she could send some along for our team of very discerning Cookie Monsters to try, and if it passed muster send them out to everyone.

This, my friends, is my cross to bear. I tested maybe five of them myself, for the purpose of scientific integrity, and shared the rest with the team. They got the thumbs up, so here they are for a you. A delightfully gingery cookie, ready to spice up your morning.

Please let us know what you think!!

RECIPES

Spaghetti Squash Boat: Stuff it with sausage, or tofu, or sautéed veggies and cheese.

Spaghetti Squash Tater Tots: This one came from Shannon, and you had me at "tots".

Blue Fish with Dijonaise: This is an NYTimes recipe, quick and simple. Blue fish really wants to be eaten very fresh so make this in a day or two.

Carrots and Yogurt Sauce: They call this a Thanksgiving Dish but it feels like a September dish to us.
