Equal Exchange Bananas, Organic and Fair Trade

Where they're from: Ecuador and Peru

Why: Thought to have originated in the South Pacific, bananas made their way to the African continent by the 5th or 6th century. From there, colonizers brought bananas to Europe where the name was derived from the Guinean word “banane.” Though bananas are a staple crop grown and consumed in tropical regions, they have also become a staple in American diets at all times of the day. These Fair Trade, Organic Bananas give small farmers an additional premium on top of the price of the fruit to help their communities and ensure the dignity of the local workers.
