The Wonderful Time ...of the Week.

The Wonderful Time ...of the Week.

Hello, Family Dinner friends!

Quick reminders:
  • We are delivering tomorrow (Thursday, December 23) instead of Christmas Day (Saturday, December 25).  All of your holiday pop-up items will arrive tomorrow.
  • Due to timing constraints from our vendors and anticipated holiday traffic, the delivery window will be approximately 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM.  Thanks for your patience and flexibility in this matter.
  • We will be delivering on Thursday, December 30 instead of New Year's Day (Saturday, January 1).
  • There will be no schedule changes for Tuesday deliveries on December 28 or January 4.
Finally, we are still collecting canned food/dry goods/ baby supplies drive for La Colaborativa and the Portland Food Bank. If you wish to contribute please leave out any packs of diapers, baby wipes, canned food (soups, beans, vegetables), or dry goods (pasta, cereal, rice), and your Family Dinner driver will collect them. We will sort and deliver to our partners. (Last year we had 7 full pick-up trucks of donations!)

We hope you have a wonderful Holiday and get to enjoy some delicious food and time with friends, family, and dogs. :)

RECIPES (MA)

(from Shannon)

Blueberry.Pan.CAKES - I hope y'all are picking up what I'm putting down this week with the frozen berries and pancake mix. :) Nothing is better than a morning with Carolyn's Pancakes and Blueberries.

Simple Cod with Sauteed Spinach - With simple in the name, this sounds like a great recipe for this week!

SUNCHOKES three ways! - Sunchokes or Jerusalem Artichokes are a native food to the US! (It is actually the root of a perennial sunflower!)

Carrot and Radicchio Salad - A beautiful salad for any occasion!

Celeriac and Leek Soup - A great soup for a rainy day like today!

Monk Fish Options - This may seem like an intimidating fish, but fear not! Try out any of these recipes and I'm sure you'll find one you'll enjoy!

RECIPES (ME/NH)

(from Joe)

Pork Chops with Cranberry Maple Pan Sauce - Yes, please. The pan sauce is a super easy way to get more flavor on the plate. And gone are the days of needing to cook pork till it's leather, especially from pigs as lovely as Broad Arrow's. I generally shoot for ~130º. Pro tip: cook the pork chop using the reverse sear method (Serious Eats can walk you through).

Roasted Vegetable and Tofu - Love me some single sheet pan recipes. Similar to the recipe below but gets your veg protein cooked as well.

Roasted Parsnips and Carrots - I have a problem with root veg. Good problem to have this time of year but my adoration of parsnips, in particular, is undying. And this, nestled up against a pork chop, is one of my favorite ways to consume them.

Wild Rice, Lentil & Cranberry Stuffed Delicata Squash - Super tasty as a veg entree (without feeling like an afterthought for you or your vegetarian/vegan guests) or a side.
