New Friends, New Food

New Friends, New Food

Good Morning!

A few updates:

Timing:  With the increase in weekly share and deliveries, our delivery time windows have increased on Saturdays and Tuesdays. To help narrow down your delivery window you will get an additional text when your estimated delivery time is within two hours. You will continue to get all of the normal messages alerting you that your driver is on the way and when the delivery has been completed.

Shopping experience: We know our website is clunky, and we have heard your calls for improvements. We are a small team of nerds, doing everything in house but we are working furiously (while pushing our glasses us our noses) to get you a better shopping experience. Thank you for all of your feedback, suggestions, and patience! We'll be updating the website in the next week or two and would love your feedback on it when we do.

Giving Back: NEXT Saturday June 13th and Tuesday June 16th we will be doing a collection for the Chelsea Collaborative.  The Chelsea Collaborative has a pop-up food bank which consistently has 2,000 people in line. People have continued to wait, even as food ran out. This is heartbreaking and we want to do our small part to help.  Next week we will ask our incredible network of members to leave any canned, or dry goods out at their delivery spot. The Family Dinner team will collect, sort and deliver the goods. We will also buy in bulk from our farmers to add to the donation. We are really hoping to be able to use this incredible network to help some folks in need.

NEW FRIENDS, NEW FOOD

This week we have two new purveyors we are excited to highlight.

Basil and Bunny sounds like a delicious dish I would hunt in my back yard and serve up over some homemade tagliatelle and a glass of Chianti while cranking Pavarotti's Greatest Hits, but no! It's incredibly delicious vegan fair made by husband and wife team Lyslie and Mathiew Medeiros.  "Basil & Bunny is comfort food inspired by multicultural flavors and entirely plant-based. Center-of-the-plate, mouthwatering dishes that you crave."

Lyslie believes that "It’s the little things that bring you joy, happiness, and comfort."  And this comes through in the cooking. This week for the vegetarians we have their spiced jackfruit (not local but the cooks and the love is!)  - it is perfect for your rice bowl, taco Tuesday or toasted sammies. It's super tasty, so please enjoy. And leave the bunnies in the yard. (Photo from Rhode Island Monthly, credit: Angel Tucker)

We also have baking mixes from Carolyn's Farm Kitchen, another inspiring woman owned business. Her mixes. From her site: "Our line of farm-style goods was created from original tried and true recipes, each of which was distinctly designed to pair with the growing seasons in New England while honoring the simplicity and tradition of old-fashioned farm cooking."  Sounds like we have your Sunday morning activity with the kiddos covered.

And speaking of woman owned, we're excited to have treats from Pure Pastry. These little cookies and brownies are made with so much love you kinda just want to give them each a hug before you jam them in your face.

We hope you love it all,

Erin + Tim

RECIPES

Spicy Beef:  I want this dish all day. I'm going to skip the cukes and roast the radishes in there, leaving a few to slice raw on the top. Serve with rice, cous cous, ramen, or with warm bread.

Garlicky Bok Choy: These are some big mommas from Marshview Farm. In the pan they will shrink a bit but don't skimp on the garlic.

Roasted Radish: I love these guys raw but roasted takes a bit of the bite away.
