Baby Carrot.

Baby Carrot.

Yes, folks. He's back. Graham, contender for World's Cutest Baby and the heir apparent of Clark Farm, is back. It's a baby, in a field of carrots. Hence, the title "Baby Carrot". You can see that our wit and general intellect are wilting in the summer heat. Farmer Kirsty is also present is all her awesomeness. Thanks for harvesting all of our carrots this week, friend!

Fun fact, did you know that Baby Carrots, the impossibly orange perfect torpedos you find in bags at the grocery store - are a farce? They're just regular carrots that are just shaved down to that bite sized shape. Since the skin is gone and they are now naked as a baby (get it?) they're often washed in a chorine solution to void off any bacteria and then bagged for consumption.

The process was invented by a California farmed named Mike Yurosek in 1986 (just as Lionel Richie's weird little hit "Say You, Say Me" was inexplicably making its way to the top of the charts). The process is extremely wasteful but some facilities will feed the excess to animals or turn it into juice, so they say.

So there you have it folks. There are no baby carrots, not even toddler carrots - every crudités platter you've ever eaten is a lie. Don't even get me started on Santa Claus.

On a brighter note, this week's full sized adult carrots come to you from the wonderful folks at Clark Farm! We hope you enjoy them and the rest of this week's goodies!

High Fives,

Erin, Tim and the Family Dinner Team

RECIPES

Shaved Carrot Salad: Take a veggie peeler to these guys and make a delicious raw carrot salad. Sub in any nuts, cheeses, dried fruits you want.

Blackened Redfish: This fish is dying to be a canvas for your spices. Go get it.

Peach Salad: Again, put whatever you have in here. Don't have gouda, do blue cheese or ricotta or fresh mozz or skip it entirely. Throw in nuts, scallions, cured meats. Dinner is messy and it's ready.
